My story

We all have a story… and instead of giving you labels and showing you my diplomas, let me tell you who I really am.

I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro and my own therapeutic journey began when I realised that I was trying to compensate for traumas that I had suffered in childhood by seeking praise in other areas. I was a good dancer, a successful model and a good student. But as time passed, I realised that the appreciation of others for my achievements wasn't enough, and I was feeling an emotional hole inside of me.

Astrology and tarot were my first means of self-discovery and they later became fundamental tools in my journey, but as a journalist I also wondered how someone who was committed to telling the truth was unable to tell the truth about herself.

So, 25 years ago I finally felt brave enough to begin my own therapy process and speak for the first time about being a victim of abuse. That was a turning point in my life and my own quest for self knowledge hasn’t stopped ever since.

It took me a long time to really discover who I was and to learn to love the “real me”, but I also believe that my own vulnerabilities and traumas have given me a lot of strength  and incredible resources. I believe that my sensitivity, my empathy, my willingness to help others and awareness of boundaries, all come from the problems that I have faced myself.

As a survivor of sexual abuse and as a specialist in trauma, I understand how difficult it can be to go through a personal journey alone as trauma moulds us to be who we are not. Periods of transition can be especially challenging for those who were not encouraged to be themselves or for those who had their voice silenced, who had their actions disapproved and their feelings neglected. I understand the shame, fear, sadness and anger that can arise when you are not certain who you are, how you feel and in which direction you need to head.

But I also  know how to overcome these things and help you make decisions based on your physical and mental well-being. I know what is possible, how far you can go and how to help you achieve things that may feel beyond your reach right now.

But trauma doesn’t just come from abuse. Life can be disorientating for everybody at times and we all have to deal with challenges of some sort, whether that be death, separation, losing a job or simply making a difficult life decision. All these events can be traumatic and can awaken feelings that we may not have been aware of and these new emotions can leave us feeling a little lost.

As a therapist, I have completed several courses, but I really think that nothing was more transformative in my life than learning Craniosacral Therapy and Brazilian Energy Alignment. Firstly, because I truly believe that we cannot solve trauma without doing body work and secondly we often need to use alternative methods of giving voice to things that remain deeply buried and unspoken. I saw many times first hand how powerful this healing can be and I wanted to share this with others.

I have come such a long way in my own life but like anyone with an interest in self-development, my journey is ongoing… and so, we are on this journey together.

I cannot carry you BUT I will be there to help you and to guide you.

I have achieved things in my own life that I previously thought impossible and I can help you to do the same.

So please get in touch. I’d like to hear your story…
